Why should I use an ambulatory surgery center?

Advances in medicine and technology have made many surgical procedures less invasive, briefer and less traumatic to the patient. These advances have made it possible for you to have your surgical procedure on an outpatient basis, without having to spend the night in the hospital.

Do you have foreign language staff?

We have staff that speaks multiple languages. If they are not available, arrangements will be made to provide an interpreter on site, including sign language.

Are there accommodations for persons accompanying me?

Since an adult must be available to drive you home, they have the option to remain with you in the pre-op area until you are taken to the operating room. Then they can either relax in our comfortable waiting area, where we have refreshments and reading materials available or they may leave the facility by leaving a number where we can reach them to inform them of your progress and discharge time.

What do I do if I have any questions after the surgery?

You should call us here at Seibel Vision Surgery. You will also receive a call the next day from one of our nurses to check on you. If you do not wish a message left, please inform us the day of your surgery.

What are the advantages of a freestanding surgical center?

  • Highest quality patient care
  • Patient’s reduced anxiety
  • Patient’s increased comfort
  • A warm, caring environment
  • Elimination of a hospital stay
  • Lower cost and potentially lower risk of infections that are usually associated with hospitals

Who schedules my procedure?

Your procedure will be scheduled by Seibel Vision Surgery. We will confirm the date and time with you.

Will I be called before my procedure?

After your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a telephone call from a member of the nursing staff who will review your medical and surgical history with you. One to two days before your surgery you will be called again to confirm the date and time you need to be at the center and review any instructions you may require. If you will not be available to take these calls, you may call the facility and make arrangements where you may be reached.

What do I need to do on the day of the procedure?

  • Do not take anything (food or drink) by mouth for 8 hours before your surgery time, except for important medicines (advised by your primary care physician) that can be taken with a sip of water at your normally scheduled time.
  • You should plan on arriving approximately on hour before your procedure is scheduled.
  • Make sure a friend or relative is available to take you home afterwards.
  • If there is a change in your physical condition such as a cold, cough, rash, fever, or any change in the condition of your eyes, please notify Dr. Seibel.
  • Do not wear make-up or jewelry; avoid perfume/cologne. You may bring eyeglasses and hearing aides. Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing.

What forms do I need to bring with me?
