Bio:

Dr. Seibel is a world-renowned expert in eye surgery and an internationally acclaimed inventor, lecturer and author. For more than a decade, he has concentrated on refractive eye surgery, including LASIK, cataract, and lens implant surgery. He is a dedicated teacher who has given more than 180 eye surgery lectures in over twenty countries on six continents, and he has also demonstrated his surgical technique around the world.

These live surgery demonstrations have been observed via satellite by thousands of eye surgeons in multiple countries interested in learning Dr. Seibel's techniques. As the Director of all Surgical Skills Transfer Courses (including cataract and LASIK surgery), Dr. Seibel has played an important teaching role at recent annual meetings of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the largest organization of refractive surgeons in the world.

With the goal of enhancing safety and comfort for his patients, Dr. Seibel has invented twenty surgical instruments that have applications for both cataract and LASIK surgery, and he holds two U.S. Patents. He is one of the few ophthalmologists in the world to be the sole author and illustrator of a best-selling textbook on eye surgery, which is now in its fourth edition and has been translated into Japanese and Spanish. His textbook, Phacodynamics, is an international teaching reference for eye surgeons and is frequently quoted in numerous scientific publications. Dr. Seibel's unique book provides the foundation for customized cataract surgery, enabling each operation to be tailored to each individual patient.

Currently in private practice in Los Angeles emphasizing cataract and LASIK surgery, Dr. Seibel offers the latest technology in vision correction, including bladeless all-laser IntraLasik as well as lens implants that offer an expanded range of vision for both distance and reading. He was previously director of cataract surgery at the Maloney-Seibel Vision Institute. Prior to this, he was Co-Founder of the Southern California Kaiser Laser Vision Correction Program and Co-Director of the Los Angeles Laser Vision Correction Center. He currently holds a faculty appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute, where he was honored by the residents with their annual Teaching Award.

Having received his medical training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Dr. Seibel went on to complete his residency in Ophthalmology at USC/Doheny Eye Clinic. He also holds a BA with honors from Rice University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
